The Australia Council’s study ‘Showcasing creativity: programming and presenting First Nations performing arts‘ launched at the APACA Performing Arts Conference in September, highlights the challenges and opportunities available for presenting First Nations work. A national mapping of publicly available programs across Australia in 2015 has revealed that First Nations performing arts comprised around only 2% of works featured in mainstream venues and festivals. This report hopes to encourage greater representation of First Nations performing arts in national programming.
