CQU has a new Bachelor of Creative Arts which is being offered first at its Cairns campus. Announced in mid 2016, the program aims to help Cairns become the arts capital of Northern Australia. In a region long associated with careers in mining, Head of Creative Arts David Cashman observes that “The arts industry employs more than twice the number of people that mining does and creates $7 billion more in revenue” highlighting a welcome alternative pathway to aspiring Far North Queensland creatives.
