‘Golds’ for tertiary arts providers in UK Teaching Excellence Framework

The UK Teaching Excellence Framework has made its gold, silver and bronze announcements on teaching quality in English tertiary institutions (and those in Wales and Scotland who opted in to the system). The exercise has received a substantial amount of criticism in the UK, and while the last thing the sector needs is yet another ranking table, it is good to see the arts feature heavily in the ‘golds’, particularly those organisations who do not participate in the research excellence evaluation. Gold rankings were awarded to the following arts specialist organisations:

  • Arts University Bournemouth
  • Conservatoire for Dance and Drama
  • Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts
  • Norwich University of the Arts
  • Rose Bruford College
  • Royal Academy of Music
  • Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, University of London
  • Royal College of Music
  • Royal Northern College of Music
