The Australian Research Council has announced a full review of the current ANZSRC classifications, which include Type of Activity, Field of Research (FOR) and Socio Economic Objective. The classifications are used for statistical analysis and identify fields of research for grant funding and ERA assessments. The review which will be lead by the ARC and the Australian Bureau of Statistics, and their New Zealand counterparts seeks to update the current classifications to reflect changes in research practice. The full review process will be conducted in 2019 with revisions to be released in mid 2020. Opportunities for feedback will be announced in due course.
