Canada’s McGill and Montreal Universities Connect in $17 Million Music Research Hub

Supported by US$17 million funding from the Canada Foundation for Innovation, the Government of Quebec, the Fonds de Recherche du Québec (FRQ) and philanthropic donations, the Music Multimedia Performance Lab at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Music Media and Technology and the Schulich School of Music, and the University of Montreal’s outstanding concert hall now have a direct real-time connection...

Supported by US$17 million funding from the Canada Foundation for Innovation, the Government of Quebec, the Fonds de Recherche du Québec (FRQ) and philanthropic donations, the Music Multimedia Performance Lab at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Music Media and Technology and the Schulich School of Music, and the University of Montreal’s outstanding concert hall now have a direct real-time connection. 

The infrastructure will support advanced research into performance and recording and provide researchers, students and audiences to explore new distributed performances, where musicians in different locations are able to perform together.
