Federal Minister of Education and Training Simon Birmingham has announced an independent review of regional, rural and remote education to be led by Flinders University Emeritus Professor John Halsey. The review will focus on challenges and barriers to students’ learning outcomes including transitions toward further study, training and employment and provide recommendations for improved access and achievement. Public submissions will be invited on line from April and consultation meetings will take place in July and August. The report and its recommendations will be presented to government at the end of the year.
