The Australia Council for the Arts has released a new report: Domestic Arts Tourism: Connecting the Country as a follow up to their previous report on international arts tourism. The report highlights the importance of the arts to domestic tourism and the growth of First Nation arts and crafts as part of domestic tourism performance. Whether day trips or longer visits, to cities, rural, regional or more remote areas, the report observes: “These results suggest that Australians are turning to the arts when they are exploring new places and seeking out authentic experiences of the many and varied parts of the country”
