UK 2023 Good Universities arts rankings are out

The UK Good Universities Guide has released its rankings for 2023, and while we know all rankings are subject to much variation and methodology questions, the creative arts lists make for interesting reading for those who are into these systems. Below are the first ranked institutions for each of the arts disciplines included, but for me the most interesting (and perhaps encouraging) point is the fact that the University of the Arts London was ranked at 19 in the overall university ranking beating some of the more well-known multidisciplinary institutions.

First Ranked institutions by creative arts field

  • Animation and Game Design: Hertfordshire

  • Creative Writing: Birmingham

  • Drama and Dance: Exeter

  • Fashion and Textiles: Loughborough

  • Interior Design: Loughborough

  • Film Production and Photography: Sunderland

  • Fine Art: Oxford

  • Graphic Design: Loughborough

  • Music: Guildhall School of Music and Drama

  • Product Design: Loughborough
