CONTRIBUTE – Creative Matters ed 8

Inclusion + diversity in higher education learning + teaching in the creative arts

The past decade has seen increasing attention placed on the inclusion of diversity in higher education, but evidence of actual progress from the academic and student experience seems less apparent than claims of intent made by university management.

We are interested in hearing reports of learning and/or teaching practices that foster or represent diversity and inclusivity in the creative disciplines, expressed and illustrated through student work or research, or student-academic collaboration.

We invite contributions that highlight diversity and inclusivity in a broad scope – including First Nations-led or partnered projects, neurodiversity, international or transnational cultures – across studio works, research, student experience or teaching initiatives (in undergraduate, postgraduate and higher degree research programs) within the creative art disciplines, including design, visual and performing arts, creative writing, music and screen production.

To ensure appropriate representation resonant to the theme, we ask contributors to obtain consent for writing about student projects, and we encourage co-authorship with students where appropriate or possible.

This edition of Creative Matters will be co-edited by Dr Guy Keulemans, Enterprise Fellow at the University of South Australia.

Submissions due 3rd February 2025 to editor@ddca.edu.au
