As part of the 50 year anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in 2017, ASEF have commissioned Griffith University to map the contemporary art scene in the ten ASEAN members. . .

As part of the 50 year anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in 2017, ASEF have commissioned Griffith University to map the contemporary art scene in the ten ASEAN members.  Professor Ruth Bereson who will lead the project will join colleagues from: Cambodia (Amrita Performing Arts); Indonesia (Indonesian Arts Coalition); Phillippines (De La Salle – College of Saint Benilde); Thailand (Chulalongkorn University); Lao PDR (Lao Pride Record Company Limited); Singapore (The Substation); Viet Nam (San Art) and Malaysia ( independent researcher Kathy Rowland).  Ruth provides more detail on the early development of this project in her article in this edition of NiTRO.
