The 2017 US News Best Global Universities list was released in October. While the University of Melbourne was highest ranked in Australia overall, they were overtaken by the University of Sydney when it came to the arts and humanities ranking. The US News ranking is based upon academic reputation and research in the field, which in the arts and humanities category includes a wide range of disciples that include language and linguistics; and performing arts.
