The Australian Deans of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities (DASSH) have released a report which analyses the criteria used by key decision makers in Australia to judge the academic quality of Non Traditional Research Outputs (NTRO). The report, prepared by Alan McKee, captures the views of thirty experts in the field who rated the importance of criteria that may be used by those judging NTRO quality. While a number of criteria attracted qualified comments, the majority of interviewees agreed upon the importance of demonstrated familiarity with the current state of knowledge in the relevant academic disciplines (very important) and in the relevant industry (important).
