Sydney’s newest museum, The Chau Chak Wing Museum, opened on 18 November bringing together the University of Sydney’s collections of antiquities, natural history, historic photographs, cultural artefacts and art. These include the Nicholson collection, the largest collection of antiquities in the southern hemisphere, and the University Art Collection with more than 8,000 works. The museum is named after Dr Chau Chak Wing whose $15 million donation was central to the museum’s development.
