La Trobe University has axed its creative arts degree program at its Mildura campus citing low enrolment numbers and COVID-19 impacts. Current enrolled students will be allowed to complete at Mildura, but future La Trobe creative arts students will need to travel to Adelaide or Bendigo campuses.

La Trobe University professor of practice Kathy Quinlan has been announced as the new Director of the National Portrait Gallery of Australia. Currently director of La Trobe Art Institute, Kathy has served as Director of the Bendigo Art Gallery for the past 18 years.
